Sandra Stoycheva was born in Sofia in 1983. From 2000 to 2002, she studied Graphics at the NationalAcademy of Arts in Sofia. She graduated in "Graphic Design" in 2008 and Audio-Visual Arts in 2011 from Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 2011 she won first prize of the public with the work Hourglass in the talent competition of the year, part of the festival STRP, Eindhoven, the Netherlands. She has participated in numerous art projects in the Netherlands and Bulgaria, the last of which is a kinetic set for a theatrical performance in Amsterdam. Lives and works in Amsterdam and Sofia.

"Reflection is an illusion. It’s a place, which doesn’t exist in reality, but you see it and it is there. It’s the same as when you look into the mirror, you are somewhere that doesn’t exist, but you think you are there, because you see it. Every day reflection is something different to me. In the process of work, the idea of illusion changes."
